Aji stone (Aji-ishi)

Aji stone is produced in the towns of Aji and Mure in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture.

This granite has long been used for gravestones, stone lanterns, and more.

It has a delicate texture that resists weathering and was favored by the sculptor Isamu Noguchi.

Aji stone is a beautiful, classic stone commonly used in gardens for centerpieces with religious symbolism, stonework, and so forth.
