- Tips for growing purple Japanese gentian

Purple Japanese gentian prefers a sunny, well-ventilated spot.

Growing in an environment with plenty of sunlight and good ventilation will give the plant beautiful flowers and healthy growth.

Prepare a soil with good drainage and good water retention. Add humus to improve the quality of the soil.

Provide adequate water to avoid dryness.  Be sure to avoid water shortages, especially in the hot months, so that the plant can flower vigorously.

The Japanese gentian has always attracted attention with its flowers for its inner elegance and graceful appearance. In the time of Prince Shotoku (around the 7th century), the then-established ranking system defined purple as the color for the highest ranks. According to this tradition, purple Japanese gentian is very popular in Japan and is often sent as a gift to grandparents on Respect for the Aged Day.
