Kiyosumi shira-yamagiku are beautiful wild chrysanthemums discovered around Mount Kiyosumi in Chiba Prefecture, central Japan. This aster produces flowers that start as pale purple around a white center before the center too turns pale purple. It’s known for its slender, dark stems and the abundance of tiny flowers at the tips of its multi-branched stems.
Tips for growing Kiyosumi shira-yamagiku
As Kiyosumi shira-yamagiku prefer lots of sunlight, choose a spot with full sun. Sufficient sunlight during the day will brighten the flowers’ color. They also prefer well-ventilated soil. Prepare rich soil with good drainage to prevent root rot and aid in healthy growth. Make sure the soil does not dry out, but also be sure not to over water as this can damage the flowers.
Once the plants have flowered, remove faded flowers to encourage flower buds for the next flowering season.
