Nachi koba daimonji-so is a treasured wild ancestor native to the Kii Peninsula. With small leaves and compact height, it produces charming white flowers in autumn.
The plant is one of the finest autumn wildflowers and its compactness makes it a perfect choice for shade gardens and for potting alone or with other plants.
Tradition has it that the second half of the common name for this plant in Japanese, daimonji derives from the shape of its petals, which resemble the Chinese character “大” (meaning “large”).
