Produces white flowers that resemble those of daimonji-so (Saxifraga fortunei).
Its leaves have distinct lobes, somewhat resembling a maple leaf.
The plant’s common name in Japanese, jinji-so (meaning “plant resembling the Chinese character for human”), derives from how each flower has two long petals that hang down.
