Tea tree is an evergreen shrub of the Theaceae, or camellia family, native to China.

This shrub has alternate, broad oval leaves that are slightly thick. It produces white, downward pointing flowers in late autumn.

The tips of the young leaf buds are picked and processed into green tea, black tea, and other teas.
