Ardisia japonica (Marlberry, chirimen yabu-koji)

This species has uniquely slender leaves with finely and deeply indented veins. These characteristics give the leaves a distinctive crepe-like appearance, as suggested by its Japanese common name, chirimen yabu-koji (meaning “crepe marlberry”).
