Astilbe simplicifolia (Hitotsu-ba shouma)

The plant has one leaf to a leaf stem, which is the origin of the first half of the plant’s Japanese common name, hitotsu-ba, meaning “a single leaf.” Produces umbels of delicate, tiny flowers reminiscent of stardust.
